Why is my dua not accepted?
Then you will make supplication and it will not be accepted”. [At-Tirmidhi]. If you are committing any sin which you are aware of, then it is best advised to stop committing that sin so that Allah will answer your dua's. We don't know which sin of ours is stopping Allah from accepting our prayers.
Ibrahim ibn Adham was once asked “Why is it that when we make dua (supplication), we aren't answered, while Allah says 'Ask me and I will answer you! ' (Quran 40:60)?” He replied “It's because your hearts are dead.” When they asked about what killed their hearts, he mentioned eight attributes: 1.
Prerequisites for your dua to be accepted
You must repent for your sins (make tawba). You should remove all the unlawful things from your life. Ensure you are performing the basics: praying five times a day, paying zakat, fasting in Ramadan, etc. You should make dua with sincerity and a focused mind and heart.
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person; Allah raises it up above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven to it.
As a result of Allah's never ending showers of mercy upon us - He has also blessed us with extra special times and days, where our duas have a very high chance of getting accepted. 1- On Fridays, during the last hour of Asr before maghrib.
There are many reasons why prayer is not answered. God is by no means obliged to answer every prayer for every person. The Bible tells us that sometimes prayers are not answered because we nourish and cherish sin in our hearts.
Dua must be devoid of sin:
If one asked Allah, “O Allah, make me a Prophet”, then this not permitted and is transgressing beyond bounds and is not accepted by Allah. If a person was to supplicate against the one he has oppressed, it will not be accepted.
For every delay / unanswered dua a believer will be rewarded. On the day of judgement he will receive his book of deeds which contains many many good deeds which he did not perform & he will mention that this book is not his. BUT HE will inform that those additions are to compensate him for the unanswered duas.
'Abd-Allah ibn Salam said: It is the last hour of Friday.
In short, a dua can result in the following: 1) Allah will answer immediately. 2) Allah will postpone it for a better time and we'll be rewarded for our patience in shaa Allah. 3) It will be rejected because Allah knows what's best for us and it can help ward off harm in Dunya or Aakhirah (here or hereafter).
Do your duas get accepted if you don't pray?
Praise be to Allah. No good deeds will be accepted from one who does not pray – no zakaah, no fasting, no Hajj or anything else. Al-Bukhaari (520) narrated that Buraydah said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever does not pray 'Asr, his good deeds will be annulled.”
4-Being uncertain: a dua which is made with uncertainty is unlikely to be accepted. A person shall make a dua with full hope of acceptance. The Holy Prophet PBUH said that a dua made with heedless heart is not answered.

According to a sahih hadith: 'There are three prayers that will be answered: the prayer of one who has been wronged, the prayer of a traveller, and the prayer of a father against his child.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1905.
Prohibitions: In Islam, everything considered harmful either to the body, mind, soul or society is prohibited (haram), while whatever is beneficial is permissible (halal). Islam prohibits Muslims from consuming pork, alcohol or mind-altering drugs.
(55:65) Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? (55:66) In them will be two gushing springs.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “There are five nights on which du'a is not rejected: the first night of Rajab, the fifteenth night of Sha`ban, Thursday night, the night before Eid al-Fitr and the night before Eid al-Adha”.
So in this Quranic lesson, we will learn that Dua is Answered by Allah in the following ways: Allah will give you an immediate answer. Allah will delay the answer. Allah will withhold the answer.
One may supplicate The Merciful and Bounteous Lord anywhere, anytime, and however one wills.
- Ignoring God's Word. If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination. ( ...
- Loving Sin. ...
- Desiring Wrongly. ...
- Doubting God.
Perhaps the most neglected type of prayer is a prayer of thanksgiving. While praying “Grace” before meals is a good example of a prayer of thanksgiving, we should get into the habit of thanking God throughout the day for all the good things that happen to us and others.
What to do when God doesn't answer your prayers?
Rest in Him.
God always comes through on His promises and we can trust that His plans are much better for us than our own. Sometimes His answer is “wait,” or “not yet”. Other times it's a flat out “No, child. My will for you is better.” We'll never be able to see the full picture of what God has planned for us.

- Turn Your Anxiety Into Dua. ...
- Accept that Allah Controls Everything. ...
- Take a Salah Timeout 5 Times a Day. ...
- Seek Allah's Help Through Sabr. ...
- Have Tawakkul. ...
- End Your Day On a Positive Note.
It is bidah when you do it Everytime, 5 times a day, after every fardh Salah daily. Making du'a after salah is not Sunnah if it is done by raising the hands. If du'a after prayer is done without raising the hands, there is nothing wrong with it. Making du'a after salah is not Sunnah if it is done by raising the hands.
Recitation of the Holy Quran is a form of mystical music that contributes to the release of endorphins by stimulating alpha brain waves. [13] Therefore, it enhances the stress threshold, removes negative emotions, and creates a sense of relaxation.
Allah (SWT) promises us that He will never forsake us and if we turn to Him, He will take care of us, for He knows best. So if you find yourself lost, or confused, or in despair at the hands of difficult situations, turn to Allah (SWT) and seek His guidance, for His guidance is perfect.
No one can possibly know or understand except for the Almighty himself. He knows your pain. He is always there, reaching out to pull you out of the pit of despair. Reach out to Him!
- Pray five times a day. Praying five times a day is our obligation. ...
- Take baby steps. Plan a good deed each day, and try do it. ...
- Say Alhamdullilah. Just take a moment and think about the last time you have been grateful to all the blessings of Allah SWT. ...
- Say Astagfirullah. ...
- Make Friends.
Making duaa at the time of opening fast
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “There are three whose duaa is not rejected – a just ruler, the fasting person when he breaks his fast, and the prayer of the oppressed person.
The Dua for Iftar
Iftar is regarded as a time when duas are answered because a person has completed the act of worship through fasting and is in a vulnerable and weakened state, a position of humility that brings them closer to Allah.
What will Zikr do on Friday?
- Take a Bath (Ghusl) ...
- Use Siwak to clean your teeth.
- Wear clean, presentable and preferably new clothes before the Friday prayer. ...
- Apply perfume/ Oud (make sure it's non-alcoholic)
- Cut your nails. ...
- Read Surah Al-Kahf. ...
- Send Durood and Blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) abundantly.
Tip #8 - To repeat the dua three times. Repeating the dua 3 times brings about a sense of urgency, this was practiced by the Prophet (peace be upon him) many times.
Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No supplication is quicker to be answered than a supplication on behalf of one absent.”
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There are three whose prayer will not rise even a hand span over their heads: an Imam who leads people in prayer who hate him, a wife who spends the night while her husband is displeased, and two brothers who sever their relationship.”
Speaking or talking in the course of the prayer. Laughing in the course of the prayer. Eating while praying, even though what is eaten maybe as small as a piece of dates. Drinking while praying, even though what is drank maybe as small as taking only a mouthful.
“The fast of one who does not pray is not valid and is not accepted, because the one who does not pray is a kaafir and an apostate, because Allah says in Quran 9: 11: 'But if they repent [by rejecting Shirk (polytheism) and accept Islamic Monotheism], perform Salat (Iqaamat-as-Salaah) and give Zakaah, then they are ...
There is no sahih hadith states that raising the hands for dua is a sunnah and a mustahabb act of ibadah done by Muslims after fardh salah. But supplication that is not done after salah is permissible to raise hand, the Muslim should raise his hands with humility to Allah and do it in the way instructed by Muhammad.
Repeating the entire dua multiple times—3 is a common recommendation—is, however, a good way to sharpen your focus and demonstrate your persistence. Use a normal speaking tone—don't whisper as if you are embarrassed to be overheard, and don't shout as though you are showing off. Many Muslims cry when making dua.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: A person's duaas will continue to be answered so long as he does not pray for something sinful or for the breaking of family ties.
Which of Allah Favours will you deny?
(55:69) Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? (55:70) In the midst of these will be maidens, good and comely.
Thus a person in the state of major impurity should not recite the Quran, either from the mushaf or from memory, until he has bathed (performed ghusl). However, if a person has broken his wudhu and is impure in the sense of minor impurity, he can recite the Quran from memory but should not from the mushaf.
